It was a busy Saturday full of weekend action in Southeast Missouri, bring a bunch of local teams together.

For Cape Central, it continued its dominant performance with wooden bats with an opening victory against Pattonville to make way for a daily split.

Cape Central (8-16) opened its Saturday with a tight victory against Pattonville, scoring two in the third to grab the lead and holding on tight.

Caden Chenoweth led the way with three hits for the Tiger offense, singling three times while Connor Poole doubled behind him to get two bases of his own.

Central hit seven times and walked five times, never struggling to put runners on to give starting pitcher Chapman Ogles some confidence on the mound.

Ogles pitched the full seven, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out eight to get a win, holding the visiting Pirates scoreless.

In a battle between two talented local powers, Scott City (12-5) held Oran (7-4) scoreless after a pair of first-inning runs and ran away with a seven-run win at home.

Scott City's disciplined offense drew seven walks compared to just five hits, but each one of those five went for extra bases as the Rams were explosive.

Alyssa Dirden and Harley Glueck both hit for triples, with both driving in two runs in the game to carry the SC offense.

Dirden threw for all six innings, allowing three hits and five walks but earning just one run in an eight-strikeout performance.

Oran's Kendall Burger, Molly Spane and Natalie Ramsey each singled in the loss, but that was all the hitting that the Eagles could muster in the loss.

__BB: Notre Dame 2, Kelly 1__

Notre Dame (11-9) walked it off against the talented Kelly Hawks (7-9) on Saturday, literally, as Jack Cozean Jr. drew the game-winning base on balls to score Carson Essner.

Scoring just one in the fourth and again in the seventh, it was a tight one down to the finish as Kelly's game-tying run in the fifth kept it dead for most of the game.

Logan Landewee led the Bulldog offense, singling twice while Brycen Clark's double scored the opening run for Notre Dame in the fourth.

Reid Morgan threw five innings for the Bulldogs, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out 10 while never surrendering a run.

Reece Eftink's two hits, one for a double, saw him notch two of three Kelly hits on the day, never quite getting the wheels turning offensively.

Ross Peters threw 6.1 for the Hawks, earning both runs but keeping Notre Dame uneasy for most of the game, never getting the support he needed for the win.

__SB: Senath-Hornersville 14, Oran 3__

Oran (7-4) couldn't find its footing in a tough loss to Senath-Hornersville on Saturday, giving up 10 in the first two and never recovering.

Molly Spane and Caroline Brashear got the only two hits for Oran, both singling, and despite an impressive eight walks in four innings, there was never too much momentum.

Jada Burlison and Kaya Horton each hit twice for Senath, while Emma Sample doubled and walked to drive in a game-high five runs.

Burlison got the win in the circle for the Lions, throwing four innings on two hits, eight walks and three earned runs.

Against the same Graves County that Jackson lost to a week ago on wood bats, Scott City (22-2) made it 18 consecutive wins with a two-run win on the road.

Lane Miller and Kaden Lowery each hit twice, with Lowery doubling and singling to finish with three bases.

But Miller's two hits game in a huge way, singling once while drilling a three-run homer in the third inning to get way ahead on the Eagles early.

Kobe Watson got the win, allowing three hits and six walks for just one earned run, striking out five, while Miller grabbed the save with a perfect final two outs.

__BB: Greenville 1, Cape Central 0__

Cape Central (8-16) surrendered a sole run in the second inning and never could come back, ending a four-game winning streak with a one-run loss to the local Greenville Bears.

Cooper Sturgeon singled three times for Greenville in the victory, and with four other Bears singling behind him, the visitors got the baserunners to grab that one tally.

Easton Evans threw a phenomenal game, going complete-game shutout with just four hits and one walk allowed, striking out seven Tiger batters.

Zade Hickey allowed the one run and got the credit for the loss, but he pitched a strong opening four innings with four hits and two walks, earning one.

__BB: Lafayette 3, Jackson 1__

In a battle between top Class 6 schools, Jackson's (15-6) offense dragged its feet early, notching just three hits in a tight loss to a strong Lafayette squad.

A rematch of a 2023 quarterfinal at Jackson, Lafayette used home-field advantage to its benefit and getting some timely hits off Carson McDaniel of Jackson.

McDaniel finished with six innings pitched, allowing just six hits and two walks but earning two of three runs as he got the losing credit.

Waylon Hale, Peyton Kight and Garrison Brown hit for Jackson, each singling for just three total bases on the day for the Indian offense.

__BB: Calloway County 7, Scott City 1__

Scott City's (22-2) winning streak came to a disheartening end on Saturday afternoon, never recovering from an early outburst from Calloway County.

The streak ends at 18, going from 4-1 to 22-2 over a span of 29 days as the Rams became one of the top teams in the region.

Mark Panagos and Lane Holder each hit twice, both for singles, but there wasn't much doing for the Scott City offense in the loss.

Jackson Gloth pitched a strong final 2.2 for the Rams, allowing two hits and two walks but just one run as Scott City tried to thumb its way back but fell short.

__BB: Triad 5, Notre Dame 1__

Notre Dame (11-9) gave up all five runs in the final two innings to take its five innings of lead to dust against a cross-river foe in Triad.

Logan Landewee drew a leadoff walk, stole second and made his way home on a wild pitch to get the lead early, but it wasn't to be.

Hunter Bonham's five innings of two-hit, three-walk ball ended with Triad's two runs in the sixth, and it all fell apart from there for the Bulldogs.
