MINTON COMPETES AT NATIONALS

Missy Minton, 14, of Advance, competed in the Level 9 Western Nationals gymnastics meet in Austin, Texas, this weekend.

Minton's 8.975 on the vault placed her 14th among 57 gymnasts. She also was 17th on the floor with a score of 9.225. Her all-around score of 35.2 placed her second among five participants from Missouri.

Minton, along with fellow Cape Gymnastics Center gymnast Tanya Cwick, 12, of Cape Girardeau, competed in the Level 9, Region 4 meet April 17 in Minot, North Dakota.

Minton and Cwick qualified for the regional meet after scoring 34.425 and 34.475, respectively, in the all-around in the Missouri state meet March 21 in Springfield. Minton competed in the Senior A division and Cwick in the Junior A division.
