While Southeast Missouri's volleyball team won its fifth straight OVC volleyball title this year, Otahkian setter Tuba Meto was working on a streak of her own.
Like her team, Meto repeated.
For the second straight year, Meto has been named the OVC Player of the Year. The Southeast senior dished out 1,459 assists this season and moved into the No. 2 career spot among OVC assist leaders.
Meto, from Instanbul, Turkey, also added 249 kills and 382 digs. She also led the nation with eight triple doubles.
Southeast finished atop the OVC with a 15-3 record (25-8 overall) and was the only school with two players on the first team.
Joining Meto on the first team was teammate Jackie Derwort, a sophomore outside hitter. Derwort accumulated a team-high 489 kills and added 50 blocks.
Southeast also had Angie Aschoff, a sophomore middle blocker named to the second team while freshman outside hitter Krista Haukap was named to the OVC All Newcomer Team.
The remainder of the first team was comprised of Rachel Melchiorre of Tennessee Tech, Lauren Mackey of Morehead State, Amy Merron of Eastern Kentucky and Lorri Sommer of Eastern Illinois.
Tennessee Tech's Jennie Gilbert was named the OVC Coach of the Year after leading her squad to a second-place finish. The Lady Eagles were picked to finish seventh prior to the season.
