Top-seeded Meadow Heights and No. 2 Saxony Lutheran advanced to tonight's championship game in the Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball tournament at Chaffee by posting victories Thursday night.

Meadow Heights pulled away from Zalma in the second period en route to a 65-38 win over the No. 5 seed.

Zalma led 13-12 after one period but trailed by nine at halftime and the deficit grew to 21 after three periods.

Anthony Bollinger scored 21 to lead the Panthers, who made eight 3-pointers. Nathan Revelle added 12, and Heath Fulton had 10.

Tim Landing led Zalma with 14 points.

Saxony Lutheran jumped on Leopold for a 22-12 lead after the first period. After the teams each scored four points in the second, the Crusaders went on a 20-8 spree in the third.

Alex Jauch led Saxony Lutheran with 25 points. Casey Petzoldt added 14.

Victor Vandeven scored 11 to pace Leopold.

The championship is set for 9 p.m. Leopold and Zalma will play at 6 tonight in the third-place game.
