Notre Dame 2, Marion (Ill.) 1

MARION, Ill. -- Playing in high winds and drizzling rain for most of the contest, Notre Dame (9-2-1) sloshed to victory.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Bulldogs got a second half goal from Tyler Cuba on an assist from Scott Wittenborn to tie the score.

That same tandem combined for the winner when Cuba's corner kick was headed in by Wittenborn.

The Bulldogs dodged a bullet when a Marion penalty kick late in the game hit the crossbar.

The JV game ended in a 1-1 tie. Josh Essner scored Notre Dame's lone goal on an assist from Ryan Rogow.
