The Missouri Department of Conservation has proposed establishing a 9-inch minimum length limit on crappie at Lake Wappapello but is not proposing a change in the daily limit of 30 fish.
The proposal will be reviewe by the MDC Regulations Committee and the Missouri Conservation Commission. If approved by the Conservation Commission the regulation would go into effect on March 1, 2006.
MDC fisheries staff previously had proposed a reduction in the daily limit, from 30 to 15 crappie, to go along with the 9-inch minimum length limit. The original proposal was revised based upon public input, which showed support for the length limit but not for a change in the daily limit.
