McCarty signs to play basketball for Crowley’s Ridge

East Carter’s Kasen McCarty signed his letter of intent last week to continue his athletic and academic career at Crowley’s Ridge College. McCarty will play basketball for the Pioneers. CRC went 10-19 last season and finished 6-7 in the Continental Athletic Conference. East Carter head coach Jordan Penn said McCarty was a great player for the Redbirds his last two seasons.

“He was our hardest worker and led our team in rebounding while also being our second leading scorer,” Penn said. “He added 20 pounds muscle from last year to this year and really improved his toughness. Great kid with a high motor.

“He’s shown our younger guys how to work and what will happen when you do. He put his down and got after it and it paid off for him. That’s a great example to leace behind for the next guys to look up to. He really impacted our program and EC will be sad to see him go. Super proud of him!”
