Maxwell could miss next season

Southeast Missouri State freshman forward Jajuan Maxwell could miss the 2007-2008 season after reportedly suffering a knee injury.

Southeast officials were unable to comment on the specifics of the injury due to privacy laws, but multiple sources confirmed the 6-foot-6 freshman suffered a torn ACL, putting his sophomore season in jeopardy.

Maxwell could be redshirted if he is unable to suit up next season. Maxwell is reportedly expected to have surgery soon.

"He's a valuable member of our team. We'll try to get him back as soon as possible, but we don't want to rush it," Redhawks coach Scott Edgar said.

Maxwell averaged 5.2 points, three rebounds and shot 36 percent from 3-point range as a true freshman.

Harris signs

Southeast Missouri State's men's basketball team officially signed its fourth recruit of the spring signing period Monday when Hank Harris signed on the dotted line.

Harris, a sophomore out of Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kan., averaged nine points, 4.5 assists and 2.4 rebounds during his sophomore season. A 5-11 point guard, Harris joins Will Bogan, Jaycen Herring and Kenard Moore among the spring signees.

Bradley honored

Southeast sophomore Lauren Bradley was the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week in softball this past week.

Bradley hit .750 in four games, helping the Redhawks post a 3-1 mark in their final four games. Bradley hit .857 in Southeast's final OVC series of the season, going 5-for-5 in the final two games with two home runs and three RBIs.

She finished the season with a .271 batting average with four home runs and 10 RBIs.
