CHAFFEE, Mo. -- The Malden football team scored all nine of its touchdowns in three plays or less and claimed its second straight SEMO South Conference title with a 66-13 drubbing of Chaffee on Friday night at Mark Whitaker Memorial Field.

Malden, which won its third conference title since 2006, finished with 419 total yards on 23 plays.

Kylus Thompson caught three passes for scores and rushed for another to lead the Green Wave (7-0, 5-0 South). The senior finished with 205 all-purpose yards and had 184 of Malden's 293 total yards of offense by halftime.

Senior quarterback Chapen Riley was nearly perfect through the air, completing 7 of 8 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns, including a a 56-yarder to Jace Brown in the first half.

Chaffee (2-5, 0-5 South) trailed 22-0 in the second quarter but cut that deficit to 22-6 when quarterback Landon Tenkhoff hit Devon Nanney for 12-yard score with 10 minutes, 44 seconds to play in the half.

Three seconds later, the Green Wave countered those points when Riley and Thompson connected for a 77-yard touchdown.

Malden scored four more unanswered touchdowns before Tenkhoff found the end zone again on a 36-yard run with two minutes to play.

The freshman finished with 128 rushing yards and 53 through the air.

Nick Thompson scored two touchdowns and rushed for 76 yards while Trey Stevenson added another rushing score and also returned a kickoff 69 yards for a touchdown to cap Malden's offensive outburst.

The Red Devils, who finished with 239 yards of offense, will host Jefferson (Festus) on Friday.
