Saxony Lutheran graduate Lauren Lueders got a chance to show her skills against some of the top girls basketball players in the state on Friday at the St. John's Sports Medicine All-Star Game at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield, Mo.
The all-star game pitted the top senior girls from Missouri in a pair of games. Lueders, who played for Saxony Lutheran's boys basketball during her four years at the school, played for the White team in the Class 1-2 game.
Despite 16 points and eight rebounds from Lueders, the White team fell 82-53.
Caitlin Shouse, a center from Greenfield High School, led all scorers with 27 points for the Blue team.
Lueders, a first-team all-state selection her senior season and Miss Show-Me Basketball candidate, will play for perennial top-25 program Vanderbilt University beginning this year.
Former Scott County Central coach Ron Cookson and his brother, former Advance coach Carroll Cookson, will be among those involved in the 12th annual Gerald Pilz and Friends All-Star games Saturday at Point Lookout, Mo.
Also among the coaches will be Rogersville's Rod Gorman, who coached at Central High School. No local players are listed for the girls and boys games.
Perryville High School's past football greats will get a chance to show their skills Aug. 18 when the school hosts an alumni game at the high school.
The Alumni Recognition Game will begin at 7 p.m., and will be followed by the annual Green and White scrimmage game between current Pirates players.
Perryville's past football successes includes five district titles, most recently in 2004, and a state title in Class 3 in 1968.
Notre Dame graduate Kirk Boeller has committed to play baseball at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Boeller was the Bulldogs' top pitcher this past season, finishing with a 5-2 record and a 2.96 ERA in 47 1/3 innings.
