ARLINGTON, Texas -- Derek Lowe allowed two hits in seven innings to become the AL's second 15-game winner as the Boston Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers 13-0 Friday night.

Trot Nixon hit a three-run homer and a two-run shot, tying his career high with five RBIs. Brian Daubach also had a two-run homer for the Red Sox, who recovered from a 19-7 loss to Texas on Thursday night.

The Rangers, who scored 36 runs the previous two days, were held hitless until the fifth. Lowe (15-5) struck out four and walked one, stretching his scoreless streak to 24 innings and lowering his league-leading ERA to 2.13.

Johnny Damon also homered for Boston, which leads the majors with 15 shutouts.

Twins 2, Royals 1

MINNEAPOLIS -- Rick Reed and four relievers combined on a four-hitter, and Jacque Jones hit a leadoff homer as Minnesota beat Kansas City.

Reed (9-5) gave up four hits and one run in six-plus innings. Second baseman Luis Rivas made a diving catch of Carlos Febles' liner to thwart a seventh-inning threat.

LaTroy Hawkins and Johan Santana combined to strike out the side in the eighth, and Eddie Guardado pitched a hitless ninth for his 33rd save in 36 opportunities.

Orioles 9, Blue Jays 8

TORONTO -- Gary Matthews Jr. hit a three-run homer off closer Kelvim Escobar (5-6) in the ninth inning as Baltimore rallied from a seven-run deficit to beat Toronto.

Down 8-1 in the fifth, the Orioles scored two in the sixth, three in the seventh and three in the ninth.

B.J. Ryan (2-0) got two outs for the win, and Jorge Julio pitched the ninth for his 21st save.

Toronto's Chris Woodward had four RBIs, including a solo home run in the fifth inning off Chris Brock that gave Toronto an 8-1 lead.

White Sox 8, Devil Rays 5

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Tampa Bay manager Hal McRae shoved Tanyon Sturtze in the dugout after the pitcher was pulled from the game, and the Devil Rays went on to lose in 12 innings to Chicago.

Sturtze was lifted after five innings with a 5-3 lead. He was sitting in the dugout when McRae came over to talk with him. Sturtze appeared to brush McRae as he got up to walk away, then pushed over a water cooler.
