Saxony deserves coverage

In response to the statement in SportsTalk on Sunday, Feb. 1, entitled "Critique of coverage," personally I believe that the publicity which Saxony Lutheran High School is receiving right now is great.

We are a fairly new high school, and are trying to build a new building in order that the students will not be so cramped. Therefore, any publicity can help them reach their goal.

Also, with the basketball coverage, they have many talented players who play as a team, not individuals. The varsity team consists of one senior, one junior, five sophomores and three freshmen. Four of the five starters are sophomores.

Furthermore, I am proud to say that our other athletic teams are doing very well. Our volleyball team had its first season this year, and we went to state our first year of running in cross country and placed fourth in the state.

Our academic achievements are outstanding, and in the past two weeks, our students have raised over $1,600 in change to go toward our building fund. I believe that our students are dedicated, intelligent and prosperous young individuals. I am not ashamed to say that I believe in Saxony, our cause and goals, and all the people who support us.MATTHEW PETZOLDT
