Cody Van de Ven pitched a one-hitter and Clayton Stoverink hit a two-run home run as the Leopold baseball team won its first game Wednesday with a 14-4, six-inning road victory over Scott County Central.
Van de Ven struck out seven and walked 10 in the complete-game effort for Leopold (1-2).
Stoverink homered in a four-run fourth, doubled and finished with four RBIs. Van de Ven and Wade Wiseman each had two doubles, and Jordan Jansen added a pair of hits. Wiseman also had two RBIs.

Notre Dame evened its record with a home victory, although the Bulldogs (2-2) were the visiting team on the scoreboard.
Jake Pewitt was the winning pitcher. He allowed two hits and one run in four innings, while striking out five and walking four.
Dylan Drury worked two innings and Tanner Hiett earned a save by striking out the side in the seventh.
Colton Young and Aaron Tomascewski both had two of Notre Dame's eight hits. Sophomore Mark Hagedorn homered in hi first career varsity at-bat.

Jackson had several strong performances during Tuesday's Festus Invitational.
The boys won three events, including a meet record by Jacob Bollinger in the discus (157 feet, 2 inches).
Adam Zweigert won the 100 (11.4 seconds), while the 3,200 relay team of Cody Green, Josh Cook, Perry Hazelwood and Tyson Stoverink prevailed in 8:31.
On the girls side, the 1,600 relay team of Landon Wachter, Heather Hileman, Mary Ann Bradshaw and Beth Barton won in 4:18.
Jill Rushin set a school record in the shot put with a second-place 42-4.

Chaffee's girls finished third and the boys were fourth during Tuesday's nine-team Malden Invitational.
Kennett's girls won with 140 points, followed by Malden (109), Chaffee (93), Kelly (89) and New Madrid (73).
Malden's boys prevailed with 147 points, while Kennett (128), New Madrid (104), Chaffee (100) and Hayti (70) rounded out the top five.
Chaffee's girls received first places from Amber Kirk in the shot put, Whitney Schlosser in the discus and the 3,200 relay.
On the boys side, Chaffee winners were Collin Dannenmueller in the 400 and Gage Harrell in the 300 hurdles and the 1,600 relay.
