POPLAR BLUFF -- Leopold and Notre Dame dominated the awards banquet for the B.A. Sports All-Star Extravaganza on Saturday night. Leopold was named the team of the year in volleyball after its third-place finish in Class 1. Sandy Davis, the Wildcats assistant, was named the coach of the year. In addition, Cassie Seiler was named the best setter and Maddy Hutchings captured player of the year honors...

POPLAR BLUFF — Leopold and Notre Dame dominated the awards banquet for the B.A. Sports All-Star Extravaganza on Saturday night.

Leopold was named the team of the year in volleyball after its third-place finish in Class 1. Sandy Davis, the Wildcats assistant, was named the coach of the year. In addition, Cassie Seiler was named the best setter and Maddy Hutchings captured player of the year honors.

Bell City's Jessica Abner was named the best offensive player, and Scott City's Brittany Licare was named the top defensive player.

Leopold's fans were the small school fans of the year, while Notre Dame won that honor among large schools for the second straight year.

Notre Dame took home a batch of honors, with Paul Hale as boys basketball coach of the year and athletic director of the year. Ryan Willen was the male player of the year and Jane Morrill was the girls underclassman of the year.

On his awards, Hale said, "We've had the good fortune to have some good kids to work with."

Other award winners were: Michael Porter, Sikeston, underclassman of the year; Hailee Deckard, Naylor, coach of the year; and Chad Allen, Dexter, girls coach of the year.

Tom Drummond was named the official of the year.
