Landon Wachter leads Jackson's state qualifiers

Jackson and Central had multiple state qualifiers on both the girls and boys sides during Saturday's Class 4 sectional meet at Eureka High School.

The top four finishers in each event at the sectional advanced to the state meet Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

Jackson's girls were led by sophomores Jill Rushin and Landon Wachter.

Rushin continued her dominance in the discus and shot put by winning both events.

Wachter qualified for state in four events, three individually. She was first in the 400 meters, second in the 800 and fourth in the 100 hurdles, while also running a leg on the 1,600 relay that placed fourth.

For Jackson's boys, Jacob Bullinger won the discus, and Adam Zweigart qualified in the 100 and 200 with two third-place performances.

Central's girls received a victory from their 3,200 relay team. Rachel Burchyette, Mary Dohogne, Tiffany Mead and Brittany Moreland comprised the Tigers' team.

The same Central team also quaified in the 1,600 relay by finishing second.

The Central boys got a win from Chase Johnson in the 800. He placed third at the state meet last year.
