SIKESTON -- Cape Girardeau Central High's girls basketball team pulled away from a slim halftime lead to knock off host Sikeston 42-25 Monday night.

The Lady Tigers, who improved their record to 18-4, led just 16-13 at the intermission. They outscored the Lady Bulldogs 10-5 in the third quarter and 16-7 in the final period.

"We started out kind of sluggish, but we got going in the second half," said Cape Central coach Darrick Smith.

Dionna Webb was the Lady Tigers' only double-figure scorer with 12 points. Katie Dougherty had nine and Heather Jenkins eight.

Sikeston's Katrina Amos scored a game-high 16 points.

Jackson 72, Farmington 47

JACKSON -- Jackson continued its recent surge by avenging an early-season loss.

The Lady Indians (12-9) fell to Farmington by two points in the season-opening Farmington Tournament. But they had no trouble this time as they won their third straight game.

Andrea Koeper scored 23 points to lead the way. Also in double figures were Cherish Tillman with 13 and Whitney Werner with 11.

"We're starting to play well and this is the right time for it," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "I hope it continues."

Kelly 56, Scott Central 44

BENTON -- Kelly withstood a 31-point explosion by Scott County Central's Vontrice Blackmon and clinched the Scott-Mississippi Conference championship.

The Lady Hawks (20-3) led 18-8 after one quarter and that was basically the difference. Marissa Essner scored 18 points while Audrey Burford and Bridgett Riley both added 14.

"We came out pretty strong and played well in the first half," said Kelly coach Curtis Finley. "The girls are playing pretty well and they're having a really good season."

Kelly plays at Notre Dame Thursday night in a huge area matchup.

Portageville 49, Scott City 36

SCOTT CITY -- Scott City shot just 29 percent from the field, committed 28 turnovers and was outrebounded 43 to 22 as Portageville rolled.

The Lady Rams (5-10) actually led 13-6 after one quarter, but were outscored 27-9 over the middle two periods. Rachel Spinks was Scott City's lone double-figure scorer with 11 points.

Booker led Portageville with 17 points and Sarah Cayton had 16.

Charleston 65, Chaffee 55

CHARLESTON -- The third quarter was the difference as Charleston outscored Chaffee 26-8.

Alicia Rodgers scored 23 points to lead the Lady Blue Jays. Monesha Murray added 15 and Jodi Bledsoe had 13.

Chaffee (7-13) got 20 points from Jennifer Vandeven and 15 from Mogan Kiefer. The Lady Red Devils led 26-22 at halftime before the Lady Jays rallied.

Perryville 63, Fredericktown 45

FREDERICKTOWN -- Stacy Baer, one of four Lady Pirates to score in double figures, netted 19 points as Perryville marched to victory.

Amanda Nuyt scored seven of her 10 points in the first quarter when Perryville (13-10) opened up a 21-13 lead. The Lady Pirates outscored Fredericktown, which was playing without injured point guard Erin Kinder, in each ensuing quarter.

Jamie Amberger added 14 points and Angie Bohnert tallied 13.

Nickey Tucker led Fredericktown with 14 points and Megan Brown added 12.

Arcadia Valley 57, St. Vincent 37

IRONTON -- St. Vincent scored just three first-quarter points during its loss.

Danielle Sutterer, Jessica Lakenan and Sara Cissell all scored 11 points for the Squaws (13-7).

So. Missouri 39, Eagle Ridge 22

POPLAR BLUFF -- Eagle Ridge Christian was held to eight first-half point as it lost to Southern Missouri Christian.

Hannah Cordes led Eagle Ridge (4-6) in scoring with eight points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

St. Vincent 65, Fredericktown 48

PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent began a busy week with a lopsided victory.

The Indians (13-6), who play four more games this week, led 37-20 at halftime. Scoring in double figures were Gabe Hotop with 18 points, Ryan Prost with 12 and Nick Emmendorfer with 10.

Fredericktown got 12 points from Steve Dunn and 10 from Justin Hall.

Bell City 87, Oak Ridge 73

BELL CITY -- Gabe Scherer scored 23 points to lead Bell City.

The Cubs (10-12), who led 45-32 at halftime, also got 15 points from Jason Rampley, 14 from Nathan Walter and 13 from Daniel Abner.

Oak Ridge (6-12) was paced by Beau Morrison with 20 points. Matt Schoen added 13 and Duran Engler had 10.

So. Missouri 76, Eagle Ridge 63

POPLAR BLUFF -- Jeremy Diel poured in 34 points to lead Southern Missouri Christian past Eagle Ridge Christian.

Scoring in double figures for Eagle Ridge (7-8) were Andrew Mellies with 17 points, Mike Probst with 14, Matt Ward with 13 and Toby Shreve with 13.
