BROSELEY — The Twin Rivers Lady Royals had its first home game on Tuesday at Twin Rivers High School and after dropping their first three games to start the season, the Royals were ready to see their home field.
The Lady Royals held off visiting Van Buren for the 8-7 win to improve to 1-3 on the year with their next home game coming Friday against Naylor.
Head coach Casey Parsons said it was a good confidence builder to grab the first home win.
“It helps us going into Friday,” she said. “We had a tough Saturday and Monday we went to East Carter, we’re just trying to find our footing. We’re young. We’ve got two seniors.”
Twin Rivers fell to East Carter 13-7 in Monday’s road matchup but Parson’s was glad to see her team bounce back in such a short time.
“They’ve just got to come out and battle and they did,” she said. “We talked about that. I told this team from the start, every pitch, every at-bat, every ball, play your hardest and give 100% effort every time. That’s what they did tonight.”
Not only were the bats working as the Lady Royals delivered 10 hits in the win but Alexis Parson also handled business in the circle as the sophomore had 18 strikeouts in the win.
Reese Crismon, Anne Mittelstadt, Emma Vancil and Abigail Suiter each finished with multuple hits in the win while Mittelstadt, Katie Acre and Layla Tompkins each had two RBIs.
Twin Rivers hosts Naylor at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
