PERRYVILLE -- Perryville avenged a two-point loss to Notre Dame by defeating the Lady Bulldogs 58-44 in girls high school basketball action Monday night.
Perryville (10-4) built its lead early, leading 11-6 after the first quarter and 30-16 by halftime. The advantage grew to 44-26 by the start of the fourth quarter.
Renee Kaempfe paced the Lady Pirates with 19 points while April Watts tallied 16 and Tiffany Perkins scored 10.
April Schlosser was the lone Lady Bulldog in double figures, scoring 13 points.
Delta Tournament
DELTA -- The top three seeds all advanced in Monday night's opening round of the Delta Tournament, while fifth-seeded St. Vincent pulled off a mild upset with a 50-40 victory over fourth-seeded Chaffee.
Top-seeded Delta received 21 points from Kristin Fish in a comfortable 70-39 victory over eight-seeded Puxico; Second-seeded Dexter notched a 65-34 victory over Woodland; and third-seeded Portageville had an easy time with sixth-seeded Oran 69-32.
The championship semifinal takes place tonight at 7:30 and 9. The tournament's championship game is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Boys basketball
Central freshmen victorious
Cape Central's freshmen boys rallied from a 16-point deficit with four minutes remaining in the game for a 51-49 overtime victory over Meridian.
Chris Cole scored 22 points for Central (5-5) while Michael Cox tallied 11.
Sikeston will visit Central on Thursday.
