JACKSON, Mo. -- In a game that was dead even in most categories, Lindsey Meyr gave Jackson the edge in the statistic that really counts, runs scored.
Meyr blasted a grand slam in the second inning to account for all of Jackson's runs in a 4-0 victory Tuesday over Seckman.
Kelly Beasley and Wendy Blankenship reached on fielder's choices sandwiched around a base hit by Melissa Sander to set up Meyr' big hit.
Jeanna Bolen singled twice to collect two of Jackson's six hits. The Lady Indians improved to 9-12 on the season.
Casi Childers shut out Seckman on six hits. She walked one and struck out one.
"We're starting to play much better after a slow start," said Jackson coach Becky. "We've found a lineup that plays well together."
Notre Dame 4, Goreville, Ill. 1
Notre Dame (12-7) defeated Goreville to avenge a loss last weekend at the Jackson Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and was never headed. A big sixth inning proved to be the clincher as they plated three runs on consecutive RBI singles by Sarah Berkbigler, Ashley Reinagel and Ramona Blankenship to take a 4-0 lead. Goreville picked up its lone run in the seventh.
Stacy Seyer and Blankenship led the Notre Dame offense with two hits each.
Blankenship also picked up the win going the distance, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out one.
SOFTBALL
St. Vincent 21, Farmington 9
FARMINGTON -- St. Vincent banged out 18 hits as the Squaws rolled to a road victory.
Kim Ernst and Caitlin Hoeh each went 4-for-5 for St. Vincent (5-7). Ernst had two home runs and finished with six RBIs. Jean Brown went 2-for-5 with a home run and nine RBIs. Amanda Richardet went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Nicole Hadley was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Julie Hager picked up the win on the mound.
TENNIS
Jackson 6, Poplar Bluff 3
JACKSON, Mo. -- In a battle of unbeatens, Jackson (10-0) prevailed over district foe Poplar Bluff.
Jackson's No. 1 singles player Kim Anderson lost a hard-fought match to Poplar Bluff's Megan Bridges 7-9. It was the sophomore's first loss of the season. She had defeated Bridges twice before.
Jackson's JV squad won 10-5.

SIKESTON -- Sikeston swept doubles play in handing Cape Central a dual loss.
The Lady Tigers, who received wins from No. 1 singles player Hannah Weier and No. 6 singles player Sara Burns, fell to 1-7 on the season.
Central rolled to an 11-0 victory in JV play to improve to 8-0 on the season.

PERRYVILLE -- Chelsey Brown served for an impressive six service aces as the Squaws were able to pull out a close one over Herculaneum.
Danielle Sutterer led St. Vincent (8-5-4) with nine kills, followed by Becky Kirn with eight and Beth Hennemann with six.
Megan Moll had three aces.
New Madrid 15-15
Cape Central 1-10
NEW MADRID -- Cape Central suffered a straight-set road loss at the hands of the Lady Eagles.
The loss dropped the Lady Tigers to 1-10 on the season.
New Madrid also won the JV contest 17-15, 9-15, 16-14.
Cape Central returns to action tonight at Perryville High School.

Woodland 4-15-12
The Lady Bulldogs (8-4-4) took three sets to finally put away Woodland (5-8-3).
After splitting the first two games, the two teams went back and forth in the final game, described by Notre Dame coach Helen Payne as a "barnburner."
Notre Dame's Ashley Millham recorded ten kills and scored 11 service points, while teammates Jennifer VanGennip and Lynn Obermiller chipped in with eight and seven kills, respectively.
Leah Dowd led the Lady Cardinals with eight kills and Danyel Farrell had 11 digs and nine assists.
Notre Dame's undefeated JV (11-0) won 15-8 and 15-4.
Jackson 15-12
Sikeston 12-8
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jackson (11-2-2) won in straight sets over Sikeston.
The Lady Indians received a monster performance from Jennifer Mesey who had 12 kills, 15 blocks and five service aces.
Front line mates Jessica Koeper (six kills, 17 assists) and Erin Hartmann (14 assists, six blocks) also had big games for Jackson.
Jackson JV's (4-2-2) defeated the Lady Bulldogs 15-12, 15-9.
Jackson and Sikeston's freshmen teams split. Jackson won 15-7 and lost 13-15.
Perryville 15-5-12
St. Pius X 12-15-15
FESTUS, Mo. -- Perryville (4-9) dropped the match in three sets to St. Pius X.
Splitting the first two matches, the last set featured a nice comeback by the Lady Pirates that fell short.
"It was encouraging the way we hung in there in the final set," said Perryville coach Amy Birk.
Leading Perryville was Andrea Buerck with 13 points and 10 assists. Natalie Bohnert had nine kills and eight blocks.
Eagle Ridge Christian 15-5-11
New Salem Baptist 8-15-15
Eagle Ridge (2-2) and New Salem took turns dominating each other in the first two sets.
But the decisive third set turned into a dogfight. Each team traded possessions until New Salem was able to put on a final charge to win the match.
Rachel Carbaugh led Eagle Ridge with six kills and Ashley Hughes had 11 service points including two aces.
Eagle Ridge's JV squad (1-2) posted its first win 15-10, 15-13.
