Notre Dame's Ashley Reinagel provided a two-out, run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Lady Bulldogs past visiting Jackson 4-3 in high school softball action Thursday.
In a back-and-forth game, Jackson got out on top with a run in the first. Notre Dame tied the game in the third and took a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Jackson scored two runs and went ahead in the top of the fifth 3-2, but Notre Dame responded in the bottom of the fifth to tie it at three.
"It really was exciting," said Notre Dame coach Chris Janet, whose team improved its record to 9-4. "It was close throughout and we played good defense. It was nip-and-tuck all game."
Notre Dame hurler Mika Williamson limited Jackson to just two hits. She walked four and struck out no one.
"She really threw well, I thought," Janet said. "She'll walk a few, but she's really been throwing well for us. I think she's really mixing her pitches up well. She kept them off stride and it helps when your defense makes some plays behind you."
