BENTON -- Bradley Kolwyck has been one of Kelly High's top baseball players since his freshman season.
But Tuesday, the Hawks' junior topped anything he had done previously in a big way as he belted three home runs and a triple -- good for eight runs batted in -- as Kelly slipped past visiting Portageville 13-11.
"It was quite a performance by Bradley," said Kelly coach Mike Scott, whose team improved its record to 8-2. "Our field is not the biggest, but he still had a great day."
Kolwyck now has six homers on the season, which ties him with Notre Dame's Josh Eftink for the area lead.
Jason Glastetter also homered for the Hawks, who belted 15 hits. Jim Hulshof went 3-for-3 while Jamie Essner had two hits and scored three runs.
Justin Simpher was the winning pitcher although he allowed 11 hits and 11 runs (six earned) in six innings. Hulshof struck out the side in the seventh to record a save.
Sikeston 12, Jackson 5
SIKESTON -- Jackson fell to 4-7 while Sikeston improved to 5-4.
Sikeston had 10 hits, including a home run from Corey Goetz. Goetz, Mark Silverthorn and Craig Jobe all had two hits. Silverthorn was the winning pitcher.
Jackson finished with eight hits. Toby Freeman, Chris Schlick and Andy Callis all had two, with Callis driving in three runs.
Josh Hopkins was the losing hurler. He allowed nine hits and 12 runs (11 earned) in 4 2/3 innings. Josh Koehler pitched the final 1 1/3 innings in scoreless fashion.
Chaffee 15, Oak Ridge 3
OAK RIDGE -- Chaffee improved to 9-2 by bombing Oak Ridge in five innings.
The Red Devils had 15 hits, Garrett Senciboy leading the way with three. Dusty Leggett had two hits, including a two-run homer in the first inning. Matt Stroup, Matt Graham and Jeremy Lynn also added two hits apiece.
Phillip Blevins got the win, allowing four hits and two earned runs in going the five-inning distance. Oak Ridge fell to 2-3.
Park Hills 13, St. Vincent 11
PARK HILLS -- St. Vincent spotted Park Hills a 13-4 lead through the first three innings and was unable to catch the Rebels despite scoring the game's final seven runs.
Justin Amschler suffered the loss for St. Vincent (5-6), allowing 12 hits in six innings. He allowed all 13 runs although only six were earned.
Amschler had three of St. Vincent's 13 hits, while Aaron Unterreiner, Tyler Wengert and Gabe Hotop had two apiece. Hotop hits included a home run and a triple which scored three runs. Pat Brown added a two-run homer.
Advance 4, Leopold 0
ADVANCE -- Adam Rainey limited Leopold to three hits and did not walk a batter as the Hornets blanked the Wildcats.
Rainey struck out eight batters in going all seven innings.
Chris Wallace had two hits for Advance (5-3), including a home run and two RBIs. D.A. Slinkard added two RBIs for the Hornets.
Advance scored three runs in the third and a single run in the fifth.
On Monday, Advance defeated Holcomb 8-6.
SOFTBALL
Chaffee 10, Oak Ridge 0
OAK RIDGE -- Chaffee's Jamie Duncan continued her dominance on the mound this spring with a two-hit shutout. She fanned eight.
Macaela Morgan suffered the loss for Oak Ridge.
Jodi Pfefferkorn provided four hits for the Lady Red Devils.
Advance 5, Leopold 3
ADVANCE -- Advance remained undefeated at 5-0 by slipping past Leopold.
Ashley Hitt was the winning hurler. Amanda Bond had three hits while Jennifer Phelps, Emily Johnson and Amber Bond all added two.
GIRLS SOCCER
Notre Dame 5, St. Vincent 1
Cyndi Cox and Emily Worley both had two goals and two assists to lead Notre Dame.
The Lady Bulldogs (6-5-1) also got a goal from Courtney Vickery and an assist from Holly Montgomery.
Jackson 10, Farmington 0
FARMINGTON -- Julie Wunderlich scored three goals as Jackson improved to 9-4-1.
Lacie Hodo and Jennifer Horst each provided two goals, while Jennifer Brown, Kerrie Gordon and Carrie Myer each added one apiece. Brown also had an assist.
Dana Littlepage recorded her eighth shutout of the season.
Jackson's junior varsity improved to 6-0-1 with an 8-0 victory.
Perryville 8, De Soto 0
PERRYVILLE -- When things go well, they go really well for the Lady Pirates.
A De Soto player inadvertently headed a ball into her own goal for the eighth and final goal of the match as Perryville improved to 8-2-1.
Brooke Winkler had two goals and an assist. Stacy Baer netted two goals while Brittany Weibrecht had a goal and an assist. Also scoring were Jenny Blevins and Jamie Amberger.
BOYS GOLF
Jackson 158, New Madrid 178
JACKSON -- The Indians' Chris Pike won medalist honors with a 37 as Jackson breezed past New Madrid Tuesday at Kimbeland Country Club.
Gabe Estes added a 39 and Peyton Sims and Andy Kohl each shot 41 as Jackson improved to 7-3.
Notre Dame last in meet
STE. GENEVIEVE -- Notre Dame finished last during a triangular meet won by the host school.
Ste. Genevieve rolled with a score of 158, followed by Arcadia Valley (177) and Notre Dame (179).
Scorers for Notre Dame were Nick Martin (42), Derek Welter (44), Tim Buerck (45) and Lucas Klein (48).
St. Vincent 173, St. Pius 188
FESTUS -- St. Vincent picked up another win as the Indians improved to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in Jefferson County Conference play.
The Indians' Craig Schumer was the day's medalist with a 38. Other scores for St. Vincent were Matt Hoch (44), Ryan Prost (44) and Joe Ponder (47).
TRACK & FIELD
Ste. Genevieve Invitational
STE. GENEVIEVE -- Jackson finished eighth among 17 teams during the boys portion of the Ste. Genevieve Invitational.
The Indians had three athletes place in the top three and as a team scored 35 points.
Park Hills won the meet with 75 points, followed by Perryville and Ste. Gen which tied for second with 70 points.
