Shawn Kinder, who recently resigned as Delta boys basektball coach, has accepted the Leopold boys basketball coaching position.

"It was just a career move from my standpoint," Kinder said. "I felt like for my coaching career it was the best move for me."

Kinder said the Leopold board has approved his hiring. He added the Delta board still needs to accept his resignation.

"[Leopold] is a school that gets good support from the community, and I felt at this time it fits my position and situation the best," Kinder said.

Kinder was the Bobcats coach for the past five seasons. He is a 1998 graduate of Delta.

"It's tough leaving the kids," Kinder said. "The school means a lot to me and especially the staff. There was no reason that pushed me away really. It was just that I felt at this time this was the best time for me to make a career change."

Greer earns SEMO honors

Notre Dame junior Austin Greer was recently named to the All-SEMO Conference first team as an outfielder, Greer's name was not included in the SEMO Conference team selection list, which was printed May 6.

MSHSAA election

The 2008 MSHSAA election results were released Tuesday. The proposal to add a spring state tournament for schools with softball teams that play in the spring, failed 186-150.
