Perryville senior Kendra Schilli said she was not on a hot streak entering Saturday's Mayor's Cup showdown with St. Vincent.

And the series with the city rival had not been a source of much personal success, with four total points in the three previous meetings.

But on Saturday, Schilli scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a few shots in the Pirates' 45-33 victory over the Indians.

"I know she had struggled the last couple years in this game," Perryville coach Vicki Lohmann said, "but she's been a solid and productive player for us, and she's stepping up as a senior.

"We've challenged her this year and asked her to play inside and outside for us. She makes our team pretty balanced."

Schilli, listed at 5-foot-8, was Perryville's leading rebounder Saturday.

She was willing to do whatever it took to keep the Pirates unbeaten and on track for a Jefferson County Conference title -- and it was even sweeter to avenge last year's loss to the Indians in the process.

"This year was our revenge trip," Schilli said. "For me going out as a senior, it's bragging rights for the rest of my life. I didn't want to go out with a bad taste in my mouth.
