The Saxony Lutheran girls basketball team opened the Kelso Supply Holiday Classic with a convincing 96-12 win over the Scott City Rams on Wednesday at the Show Me Center.
The top-seeded Crusaders jumped out to an early 34-2 lead in the first quarter and never relinquished it.
Saxony (7-0) extended its lead to 53-9 at halftime, thanks to eight points from Brianna Mueller.
The junior finished with 17 points in the game and is now 15 points away from scoring the 1,000th point of her high school career.
Junior Raegan Wieser led the Crusaders with 19 points, while freshman Courtney Kester added 13 points.
Billie Charleston, Anna Kern and Michaela Kiefer each scored four points for Scott City in the loss.

Jackson's Cassidi Tomsu scored a game-high 22 points to propel the Indians to a win over Meadow Heights.
The second-seeded Indians held the No. 7 Panthers to just four points and led by 43 points at halftime.
Jackson hit nine 3-pointers, including three from sophomore Rylee Stafford.
Stafford scored 11 points, while Rachel Crites added 14 points and Autumn Reid tacked on 13.
Emma Cook had seven points to lead Meadow Heights, and Kiana Hotop netted three points.
Jackson will play Sikeston in a semifinal at 8:30 p.m. today.

Sixth-seeded Perryville only trailed No. 3 Sikeston by six points after the first quarter, but junior Erica Peet extended the Bulldogs lead to 26-13 by scoring eight of their 13 points in the second quarter.
The guard scored a team-high 17 points to lead Sikeston to a win over Perryville.
Tyeshia Mitchell scored 14 points for the Bulldogs, and Kiera Steward contributed 12.
Kylie Bilek scored 10 points for Perryville in the loss, while Ahnie Hoff had eight points.
Perryville will play Meadow Heights in a consolation semifinal at 5:30 p.m. today.
