The Kelly girls softball team erupted for three runs in the top of the eighth inning and posted a 5-2 victory at Central on Wednesday afternoon.
Winning pitcher Kalie Hughes belted a triple -- one of her two for the game -- with two outs to ignite the Hawks' extra-inning rally. She scored on Casey Kern's single for the go-ahead run. After Summer Proctor delivered a basehit, Kern scored on London Backfish's basehit. Proctor scored on passed ball.
Kern had two RBIs for the game, and Hughes drove in a run in the sixth with her first triple.
Hughes allowed just three hits and had six strikeouts for Kelly (14-2). She allowed two earned runs.
Paige Rothenberger and Mia Russell drove in the runs for Central (6-9).
Amanda Nichols suffered the loss. She allowed five hits and three walks while striking out six. Four of Kelly's runs were earned.

Beth Schnurbusch pitched her third no-hitter of the season and second against the Red Devils to lead Bulldogs in a five-inning road victory.
Schnurbusch, who had a perfect game in an earlier outing against Chaffee, hit one batter and the Bulldogs made on error behind her Wednesday. Schnurbusch struck out eight while improving to 8-0.
Notre Dame (15-1) scored eight runs in the third inning, when Kristain Burger belted a three-run home run.
Courtney Ostendorf had three hits, while Erika Reinagel was 2-for-2. Schnurbusch also had two hits.

Ryan Willen and Mark Himmelberg each scored two goals for the Bulldogs, and Nick Wren recorded the shutout.
Willen scored the lone goal of the first half before Notre Dame (7-1) erupted for four in the second half.
Jack Wedemeier also scored for the Bulldogs. Assists were credited to Abe Dirnberger, Ty Williams, Richard Marquart, Mark Zimmer and Matt Kiblinger.
Central finished fourth in a four-team meet with some of the top teams in the state.
Parkway Central won the meet with 198, host St. Louis University High was second with 169, Fort Zumwalt West was third with 138, and Central placed fourth with 69.
Sam Gramling and Peyton Waggener each had a pair of third-place finishes. Both were part of Central's third-place 200 free relay.
