The Kelly girls basketball team began play in the Twin Rivers holiday tournament on Saturday by rolling past Malden 64-31.

Eleven players scored for the second-seeded Hawks (5-1), led by Debra Hall with 13 points, Brittany Ponder with 12 and Katee Moore with 10.

Kelly plays Sikeston at 8 p.m. Tuesday when the tournament continues.

Lafayette 52, Perryville 21

Eleventh-seed Perryville was held to six points or less in every quarter by sixth-seed Lafayette, as the Pirates suffered a first-round loss Sunday in the Visitation Christmas Tournament.

Krista Miesner led the Pirates (2-2) with eight points. Lafayette built a 27-11 lead by halftime.

Perryville will play St. Charles West in a consolation contest next Monday at 6:15 p.m.
