Another meet, another record.
Make that two records.
Jackson sophomore Jill Rushin improved her school records in the shot put and discus on Saturday in the Class 4 District 1 meet at Hillsboro.
She posted a mark of 43 feet, 4 inches in the shot put and 142-4 in the discus to win both events. Rushin's efforts were part of Jackson's runner-up finish as a team.
"Jill had a fantastic day," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said.
Earlier in the week, she swept the shot put and discus titles at the SEMO North Conference meet in Poplar Bluff.
As a freshman, Rushin finished fifth in the state in the discus (127-8) and sixth in the shot put (40-6 1/2).
"She's awesome," said Jackson senior Jacob Bullinger, who won the boys discus Saturday at the district meet. "I can't say enough about her. She would be the state champion in the shot and the discus if she threw at state last year what she's throwing now."
