COLUMBIA -- Four of Jackson High School's seven wrestlers won their first-round matches Thursday night at the Class 4A Missouri State Wrestling Championships held at the Hearnes Center.

Brett Stroud (35-3), one of two sectional champions for Jackson, decisioned Tony Gunsaulis of Fort Osage 12-6 in their 125-pound match.

In 130 competition, Cyle Huck (31-7) won by technical fall over Dan Jun of Parkway North.

At 140, sectional champion Adam Wachter (33-4) edged Joe Williamson of Blue Springs South 5-3.

Jackson's final victory was posted by 215-pounder Ray Goodson (33-3), who pinned Kevin Thomas of Raytown at the 4:51 mark. All four wrestlers advance to today's quarterfinal round.

Suffering first-round pins were 112-pounder Ricky Feiner, 152-pounder James Love and heavyweight Spencer Hobeck. All three will qualify for wrestlebacks if the wrestler they lost to wins his quarterfinal match today.

Feiner (26-13) was pinned at the 5:02 mark by John Wehmer of Hazelwood Central; Love (29-14) was pinned by Brian Perry of Columbia Hickman at the 3:40 mark; and Hobeck (28-13) was pinned by Pattonville's Jerrard Shegog at the 3:01 mark.
