JACKSON'S SCHLICK ACCEPTS SCHOLARSHIP TO LINDENWOOD

Lance Schlick, Jackson's only four-year all-state wrestler in the school's history, recently accepted a wrestling scholarship at Lindenwood University, an NAIA school in St. Charles.

Schlick, a 135-pounder, was 35-3 during his senior year, losing all three of his matches to Jake Hopson of Oakville. He amassed 124 wins (31 per year) during his high school career and ranks second in school history on the all-time win list.

Jeff Edmonds, a 1994 graduate, is first with 127 wins.

"He's been wrestling since he was six years old," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said. "He's really hung in there over all these years. We've had some great wrestlers here and he's one of the best of all time, I can tell you that."

"(Lindenwood) has a real good wrestling program. They've got some real good recruits this year, including Ben Bauman, an all-stater from Ste. Genevieve."
