Charleston held on for its second tight SEMO Conference win in four days, beating host Jackson 60-58 on Tuesday night.
The Bluejays, who handed Notre Dame its first loss Saturday, improved to 17-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
Jackson fell behind by seven points at halftime but closed the gap in the second half.
"Charleston played well that first half," Jackson coach Darrin Scott said. "It wasn't the fact that we played bad, but they're a great team and they played well.
"At halftime, I challenged the kids that this was a game of toughness and responding. I was really pleased that we came out the second half and responded with some toughness, battled and put our team in a position to have a chance to win. I'm really proud of that effort by our kids."
Jackson closed to within 59-58 on a long 3-pointer with 16 seconds to go. After Shawn Sherrell hit one free throw to bump the lead to two, Jackson's Antonio Garritano missed two free throws in the final seconds.
"Free throws don't win all the games, but they do win the close ones. They missed some and we missed some," Scott said. "We've just got to learn from it and get better, but I can't be more pleased with our effort in that second half."
Spencer Goodman led Jackson with 21 points, while Jake Leet added 17 and Garritano scored 13.
