Following another all-state basketball season and Jackson's third consecutive runner-up finish in Class 4A, senior point guard Christa Millham has been nominated as a finalist for Miss Show-Me Basketball.
The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association annually honors the best senior basketball players in the state with the awards of Miss and Mr. Show-Me Basketball. The honor will be announced Sunday at the Academic All-State banquet on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
All nominees must meet four criteria to be eligible for the honor. Those selected must be a senior and in a position to graduate; start 90 percent of the games; show outstanding moral character; and in the opinion of the nominator, be the best basketball player in the state of Missouri.
Millham has already been selected to the Academic All-State team. Several requirements must be met by the nominees for this honor, including they: be in the upper 20 percent of their senior class; have at least a 3.25 grade point average out of a possible 4.0; and also have a minimum composite score of 27 or 1210 on the ACT and SAT tests, respectively.
The nominees must have also started 90 percent of their team's games and be of outstanding moral character to earn a selection to the academic team. Only 27 girls in the entire state earned the honor.
Notre Dame's Melissa Mauer was the only other student-athlete in the immediate area to earn a spot on the academic team.
