The Jackson cross country placed first in the boys' race and second in the girls' race in the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Cape Girardeau.

Jackson senior Bryce Gentry won the boys’ 5K with a time of 16:17.90. The Woodland brothers of Reed ( 17:11.70) and Calvin Layton (17:12.30) finished third and fourth with only a second of separation. The Dexter duo of Cameron Bell (17:22.00) and Ben Dowdy (17:37.80) finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Perryville junior Bair Hopkins led the Pirates with a time of 17:48.00 and a ninth-place finish. St. Vincent freshman Carter Hennemann, fresh off winning the Perryville Invite, placed 11th with an improved time of 17:51.70.

Josh Schnurbusch led the hosting Bulldogs with a 22nd-place finish and a time of 18:41.60.

Cape Central placed third in the girls' 5K at the Notre Dame Invite on Saturday. Emily Marriott finished second with a time of 20:52.70. Notre Dame sophomore Lily Coy finished third with a time of 21:01.30.

Jackson was led by junior Annika Barks (21:04.40), who finished fourth, and sophomore Emma Niedbalski (21:07.40), who finished sixth.
