PIEDMONT -- In action from late Tuesday night, second-seeded Woodland captured the tournament title with a three-game win over host and top-seeded Clearwater.
Earlier in the evening, Woodland downed third-seeded Notre Dame in semifinal action, also in three games. The Cardinals now have a 20-11 record.
"Our girls really did a great job," said Woodland coach Tammy Brock, who has missed much of the season while pregnant but rejoined the squad this week. "The kids really pulled together, which is what we have to do because we don't have any superstars."
