JACKSON -- Stacey DeClue's two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning completed an exciting 6-5 comeback victory by Jackson over Kelly Thursday afternoon in high school softball action at Jackson City Park.
DeClue's hit plated Lindsey Meyr, who had reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base.
Jackson (17-9) had tied the game in the seventh with another two-out hit as Megan Kuntze's double scored Jeanna Bolen. Kuntze was later thrown out at home on a single to send the game into extra innings.
Gretchen King, who pitched the first four innings but was lifted in a four-run Kelly fifth, picked up the win as she returned to the mound in the eighth. King allowed three hits and struck out seven. Beth Becker pitched three innings and allowed three hits.
Jackson banged out nine hits with King, Kuntze and Amanda Bollinger all getting two hits. Bollinger had two RBIs.
Jackson led 3-1 after one inning and took a 4-1 lead into the top of the fifth. Kelly (19-3) had four of its six hits in the fifth inning as it moved ahead 5-4.
Notre Dame 7, Goreville 4
GOREVILLE -- Ramona Blankenship took control by earning the final regualar season win for the 11-14 Lady Bulldogs with a winning pitching effort as well as going 2-for-4 at the plate.
Blankenship went seven innings, gave up five hits, four runs andwalked six.
Kelly Katlyn swatted three hits as Stacey Schwartz, Ashley Reinagel and Jessica Seratti each went 2-for-4 for Notre Dame.
Perryville 8, St. Genevieve 3
ST. GENEVIEVE -- Megan Narrow and Amanda Ross combined to allow only one hit and no earned runs to down St. Genevieve.
Narrow notched the win by going four innings and giving up one hit. Ross, a freshman, pitched three innings.
Stacy Baer and Amanda Schumer each knocked out a two-run home run for Perryville (12-14). Brittany Weibrecht and Rachel Versemann both went 2-for-4.
VOLLEYBALL
Jackson 9-15-15
Notre Dame 15-7-6
Jackson overcame a slow start and a spirited Notre Dame effort to defeat the Lady Bulldogs in three games.
Andrea Koeper led Jackson ((17-2-1) with 12 kills, nine digs and nine blocks; Casey Randol contributed 10 assists and four aces; Jennifer Mesey had six kills and two blocks; and Melinda Burnett had four blocks.
"We started off real slow," said Jackson coach Nancy Ellis. "We were down 10-0 in the first game. We couldn't pass the ball. They picked it up a little bit."
Notre Dame (7-9-1) got 11 service points from Jessica Daniel; 10 kills and eight points from Lynne Obermiller; 13 points from Michelle Hency; and 13 assists from Katie Canfield.
"I was very pleased with my girls. We played well, especially the first game," said Notre Dame coach Helen Payne. "Jackson has a terrific team."
Jackson won the JV match 12-15, 15-7, 15-12. Notre Dame was victorious in the freshman match 15-10, 15-7.

Caruthersville 6-15-3
CARUTHERSVILLE -- Allison Eaton paced Cape Central (5-12-1) with three blocks as the Lady Tigers won in three games.
The Lady Tiger freshmen squad lost 15-9, 15-4 and the JV lost 15-6, 14-16, 15-8.

Charleston 13-12
CHARLESTON -- Chaffee won its third match of the season by knocking off Charleston.
The Lady Red Devils (3-10-2) got 24 assists and two kills from Amy Burnett. Jill Little had six kills and two blocks.
Chaffee's JV prevailed 15-4, 15-11.

Grandview 12-7
HILLSBORO -- Jessica Lakenan had another big match as St. Vincent improved to 5-11-2.
Lakenan powered home 13 kills in 20 attempts and she also came up with 13 digs.
Danielle Sutterer added seven kills in 11 attempts; Valerie Klaus had 10 service points and nine assists; and Casey Kirn contributed nine assists.
St. Vincent also won the JV match 15-4, 15-8.

Oran 13-4
LEOPOLD -- Leopold is now 12-4 after winning in two games.
The Lady Wildcats were led by Sarah Gowen with five kills and assists; Holly Jansen with four kills; and Kelly Wesbecher with eight assists and four digs.
Leopold's JV won 15-10, 15-7.
Woodland 15-15
Bloomfield 2-6
MARBLE HILL -- Woodland improved to 14-2 with an easy victory.
Jessica Bollinger had six kills, five digs and three kill-blocks for the Lady Cardinals. Lilo Whitener added six kills, Sarah Booth had five kills and four digs, and Amanda Jordan added four digs.
Woodland also won the JV match 15-7, 15-11.

Marquand 4-10
MARQUAND -- Oak Ridge picked up its second win of the week and of the season against Marquand.
Deanna Schreiner and Allison Miles both had three kills for Oak Ridge (2-11). Kristie Reid dished out 26 assists.
Marquand won the JV match 15-8, 15-10.
BOYS SOCCER
Poplar Bluff 2, Cape Central 0
After a 0-0 halftime tie, Poplar Bluff scored twice in the second half to drop Central's record to 8-7-1.
Central's JV prevailed 2-1. Chad Proffer and Clint Hoffman each scored a goal for the JV Tigers (4-2-1).

ANNA, Ill. -- Cape Central's boys grabbed first place out of 12 teams with 53 points, but surprisingly Tiger coach Mark Hahn was not entirely pleased with the outcome.
"Usually we're up there in the top three," said Hahn, who saw his team finish four points ahead of Carbondale. "They ran well, but they were actually supposed to run a little more conservatively."
With Saturday's upcoming Carbondale Invitational, Hahn was wanting his team to throttle its effort Thursday.
Mark Stone (16:11) placed third to lead five Tiger medalists.
The Notre Dame's boys ended up fifth with 167 points.
Cape Central's girls placed third (93 points) out of nine teams competing, with the Lady Bulldogs of Notre Dame (153) finishing sixth. Carbondale won with 46 points, followed by Harrisburg (64).
Notre Dame's Susan Judd (15:44) topped all area female runners placing fifth.

CHESTER IL. -- The Benton boys ran for first place (69 points) out of 15 teams and the Freeburg, Il. girls claimed top honors out of 15 with 51 points.
Locally, the Perryville boys took third (85 points) and the Lady Pirates (71 points) finished second on the 2.45 mile course. Kelly's boys (132 points) closed out the event in sixth.
Perryville won the overall team title, figuring in scoring for both the boys and girls.
The event used a dynamic scoring system where the top 20 varsity and the top 15 JV runners medaled, and both squads ran together.
