The Jackson girls tennis team upended top-seed Oakville 5-2 on Tuesday to win the Class 2 District 1 title.

The Jackson girls tennis team upended top-seed Oakville 5-2 on Tuesday to win the Class 2 District 1 title at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.

Jackson, the No. 2 seed, faced Poplar Bluff earlier in the day and won 5-1 in singles matches alone.

Jenny Powell, Montana Adams, Lindsey Batz and Katelyn Kuppart all had 6-0 victories against the Mules.

Adams and Ashley Robinson collected 6-0 wins against Oakville. Robinson and Kuppart teamed to win the No. 1 doubles match that clinched the title.

The district title was Jackson's third, and first since 2002, when it successfully defended its title.

Jackson will play again Thursday in the district's individual play. Powell and Adams are seeded No. 1 in the district doubles, while Central's Emma Segar is seeded No. 1 in the singles division.
