The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth team won a pair of dramatic contests at home Thursday night against Portageville by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh inning of each game. Jackson (5-1) won the opener 1-0 and the nightcap 7-6. Trevor Thompson scored the only run of the first game, coming home on a suicide squeeze by Travis Niswonger. The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth team won a pair of dramatic contests at home Thursday night against Portageville by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh inning of each game.

Jackson (5-1) won the opener 1-0 and the nightcap 7-6.

Trevor Thompson scored the only run of the first game, coming home on a suicide squeeze by Travis Niswonger. Thompson had singled for one of Jackson's three hits in the game.

Ryan Watkins allowed Portageville just two hits and no walks en route to a complete-game shutout.

In the nightcap, Brad Eaton came in to score the winning run when ball four to Sam Sander eluded the catcher.

Kyle Brown and Thompson each had three hits. Tyler Profilet was the winning pitcher with three innings of relief work.

OTHER EVENTS

* The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team swept a doubleheader at Dunklin County. Cape (6-1) won the opener 12-1 in five innings and 13-3 in six innings in the second game.

Tyler Propst pitched five innings for the win in the opener. Nathan Jones had three hits and four RBIs.

Chris Brotherton got the win in the second game. Justin Myers had two hits and three RBIs.

* The Jackson American Legion junior team (7-0) swept Scott County in a doubleheader.

Logan Lawson struck out 11 in an eight-inning shutout in the opener in a 3-0 win.

Jackson won the second game 9-5 behind three hits and three RBIs from Zach Gendron. Ethan McDowell pitched five innings for the win.
