JACKSON -- Battling back from a 9-6 deficit in the bottom of the seventh, the Jackson High baseball team scored four runs with two outs to overcome Fredericktown 10-9 Wednesday.
Fredericktown held an 8-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Jackson (5-3) struck for three runs in its half of the inning and missed more scoring opportunities when the Indians were retired with the bases loaded.
The visitors got one back in the top of the seventh to make the score 9-6 before Jackson mounted the last-inning rally.
Extremely high winds made playing conditions less than ideal and caused concern as to whether the game should continue.
Jackson's starting pitcher Josh Hopkins had a rough outing, struggling with his control throughout the 3 1/3 innings he worked, allowing eight runs on 11 hits. Four of the runs were unearned.
Lucas McCulley relieved and limited the Black Cats to one run for the 2 2/3 innings he pitched. Jason Brown hurled the final inning, holding the opposition scoreless, and picking up the win.
Nathan Brown went 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs. His two-out single drove in the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the seventh. Brown is on a 13-for-20 tear in his last five games.

Marble Hill -- Behind solid pitching and timely hitting, Woodland romped to a five-inning victory over East Prairie.

The Cardinals' 11 hits included a perfect 3-for-3 performance by Danny Lincoln. He drove in two runs and scored three helping his team jump out to a six-run lead in the first inning.
Also contributing to the potent offensive attack was Kyle Long with a double and an into-the-wind homer. He had four RBIs.
