The Jackson wrestling team finished second Saturday at the conclusion of he two-day Marquette Tournament in St. Louis County, while Central had six individual medalist.
Liberty High School won the tournament. Blue Springs finished third, followed by Jefferson City and Eureka. Central finished eighth as a team.
Jackson's individual results were not available when today's edition went to press.
Chris Griffith (112 pounds), Dan Coonce (135), Josh Smoot (140) and Ryan Davis (189) all posted fourth-place finishes for the Tigers.
Matt Latham (119) and Cory Huskey (160) each finished fifth.
"Overall the kids wrestled really, really well," Central coach Josh Crowell said.
Notre Dame could not hold on to a 34-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter and dropped a close game on the road.
Amber Karnes led the Bulldogs (3-8) with 14 points, and Meridith Medlin and Kristain Burger had 11 apiece.
Westminster Christian of St. Louis County improved to 7-2 with the victory.
