The Jackson volleyball team placed fifth out of 24 teams Saturday at the Quad State tournament in Paducah, Ky.
The Indians (15-5) defeated Henderson, Ky., in three games, 15-25, 25-14, 15-10. Rachael Meyr had 16 assists and Jill Rushin added six kills and 12 digs.
In their second match of the first round, the Indians overtook Reidland, Ky., 25-11, 25-8. Taylor Glueck had four kills and two aces while Ashleigh Lawson added six aces and four digs.
The Indians lost their third match to Alabama defending state champions Pelham in three games, 21-25, 25-14, 16-14. Meyr had 10 assists and Glueck added four kills and three blocks.
In second-round play, the Indians beat Lone Oak, Ky., 25-15, 25-14. Rushin had nine digs while Kelsey Bierman added four kills.
The Indians overtook Lafayette, Ky., 25-21, 25-15 in the fifth-place match. Meyr finished with 13 assists, four kills and three blocks, while Mary Ann Bradshaw had four kills, five digs and five blocks. Rushin had 14 digs and Cassandra Bollinger added nine digs.
Jackson hosts Farmington on Monday night.
