The Jackson Post 158 Senior American Legion baseball team pulled away to beat host Poplar Bluff Senior Babe Ruth 10-3 late Tuesday night.
Jackson, which improved to 18-2, fell behind 2-0 after one inning but went ahead for good by scoring two runs in both the second and third innings.
Post 158, leading 4-3, broke things open with three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.
Jackson, which outhit Poplar Bluff 11-7, got three hits and four RBIs from Laban Petzoldt, who tripled and doubled. Cody Harris added two hits.
Kelby Brown and Hayden Clark shared the pitching duties, with Brown notching the victory.
Jackson returns to action today with two games at the 15-team Washington tournament in Washington, Mo. Post 158 plays St. Peters at noon and Fike at 2:30 p.m.
Post 158 will also have one game of pool play Friday and one game Saturday before Sunday's championship round.
The Jackson Junior Legion swept Cape Plaza Tire Junior Legion in a doubleheader Tuesday night.
Jackson won the first game 8-1, then took the nightcap 8-2.
Tyler Slinkard pitched a two-hitter in the opener for Jackson. Justin Vaught and Hayden Lynn accounted for Cape's hits.
Lynn took the loss on the mound.
Ethan Hunter suffered the loss in the second game for Cape, which fell to 10-13.
T.J. Foste had a hit and an RBI for Cape.
