Jackson Senior Legion Post 158 is the top seed and two-time defending champion of the District 14 tournament, which begins today at Notre Dame Regional High School.

Post 158 went 5-0 in district play during the regular season. It will await the winner of today's first-round game between Cape Ford and Sons Senior Legion Post 63 and Pemiscot County Senior Legion Post 88.

Cape fell to Pemiscot County 4-2 at Capaha Field in their only meeting this summer. The two were tied 2-2 after seven innings. Post 63 had a chance to score a run and win the game after Calvin Lovig was hit by a pitch to lead off the eighth. However, Post 63 stranded Lovig and went on to give up two runs in the top of the ninth.

Post 63 finished with an 0-5 record in district play, including two losses to Post 158. Post 158 won the first meeting 3-2 on a walk-off home run from Kelby Brown.

In their next meeting, Post 158 scored 12 runs in the first inning and went on to win 20-2. Cody Harris had five hits and five RBIs for Post 158. The third baseman was a home run from hitting for the cycle.

Sikeston was scheduled to be the other team in the district tournament but was forced to withdraw because of a lack of players.

The coaches for Post 63 and Post 158 were not available for comment.
