Knowlan scored a goal in each half. The second score came on an assist from Nathan Windeknecht.

Softball

Cape Central 25, Sikeston 2

SIKESTON -- Although Central came up empty in the first and third innings in this four-inning game, the Lady Tigers made up for it in the second and fourth.

After scoring nine runs in the second, Central tacked on 16 in the fourth Thursday and mopped the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Tigers (5-3) had 13 hits and took advantage of 10 walks from Sikeston.

Casi Childers was the winning pitcher. In three innings, she allowed three hits, struck out three and walked two. Erica McDonald came on in the fourth.

Ashlie Voerg went 2-for-3 with a double, Amber Voerg 2-for-5 with a double and Cassie Koch 2-for-2 with a double and a home run. Jennifer Daume scored four runs and hit a home run.

Central's JV squad won 11-1.

Poplar Bluff 9, Notre Dame 1

Notre Dame's nine errors helped Poplar Bluff to an easy victory Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 4-5.

Although they scored just once, the Lady Bulldogs totaled seven hits. Poplar Bluff had nine hits.

Lady Bulldogs pitcher Jill Huber took the loss. Holly Schnurbusch scored the team's lone run after a wild pitch.

Perryville 11, Festus 9

Julie Preston and Andrea Regelsperger contributed three hits each and Jenny Dunker added two in Perryville's slugfest home victory over Festus.

Jenny Moore was the winning pitcher. She was helped by a catch and throwout for a double play by centerfielder Stacy Baer. Perryville (3-1) plays St. Vincent at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Perryville.

The Pirates junior varsity team (2-1) also won in a high-scoring game, 10-9 over Festus.

Volleyball

Bernie 15-15, Notre Dame 1-3

Notre Dame ran into perennial power Bernie Tuesday and was turned away decisively by the Lady Mules.

"We just got outplayed," said Notre Dame coach Janet Buchheit. "Bernie's a very talented team."

Bernie's JV team won 15-4, 15-12.

Zalma 15-12-15, Bell City 12-15-12

BELL CITY -- Zalma moved to 2-2 with a long three-game upset win over host Bell City.

"It's a huge win for us," said Zalma coach Shannon Garner.

Zalma's Vickie Pixley had 17 kills, Amber Buehler five kills and three ace serves, Erika Campbell six kills and Carlye Burchett six ace serves and 23 assists.

Farmington 15-15, Perryville 5-7

PERRYVILLE -- Perryville fell to 0-2 with its straight-game loss to Farmington Tuesday.

Perryville's Shannon Dreyer recorded eight assists and three digs; Jamie Amberger had three kills and four digs; and Nicole Blechle had five kills and Jeni Blevins had six digs.

St. Vincent 15-15, Oak Ridge 6-8

PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent picked up its first win Thursday against Oak Ridge.

The Squaws' Valerie Klaus had seven assists, Casey Kirn eight assists, Jessica Lakenan 10 kills and four blocks and Kaci Kutz seven digs.

St. Vincent is now 1-2.

Girls tennis

Cape Central 8, Charleston 1

CHARLESTON -- Central won each varsity match but the last doubles contest against Charleston Tuesday. The Lady Tigers improved to 2-0.

Central's JV team won 11-2.
