Kylie Werner scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, to help the Jackson girls basketball team avoid a three-game losing streak with a 54-27 home win over Notre Dame on Thursday.
The Indians had lost three of their previous four games after starting the season 12-0. Jackson improved to 14-3.
"We had lost two in a row, we struggled the other day at Dexter and we were sluggish in practice," Jackson coach Sam Sides said. "We made enough [shots] tonight."
Jackson had just five scorers, with Bobbie Jones and Amanda Peiffer adding 12 points apiece.
The Indians will have little time to celebrate with a game at state-ranked Nerinx Hall tonight. Jackson will face Massac County, which the Indians beat in the finals of the Saint Francis Medical Center Holiday Classic, on Saturday.
"You want to play good teams, but you have to answer the bell," Sides said. "We took a step forward tonight."
Kristain Burger led Notre Dame (8-10) with seven points.
