POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Jackson's girls basketball team ended Poplar Bluff's 34-game home winning streak on Monday night and gave coach Sam Sides a 42-41 win on his birthday.

The Mules had not lost a home game since the 2000 season and had not lost to Jackson at Poplar Bluff since the 1999 district finals. Jackson improved to 9-1, and Poplar Bluff fell to 8-4.

"That's the first time I've ever won down there," Sides said.

Katie Loos hit the game-winning shot with 20 seconds remaining. Loos also picked off a Mule inbound pass at the end of the game to seal the win. Nicole Johnson had a chance to tie the score from the line for the Mules, but she hit one-of-two free throws after Loos' basket made the score 42-40.

The game featured 13 lead changes and eight ties. Poplar Bluff led 13-11 after the first quarter but fell behind 23-19 at halftime.

Ashley Bartels led the Indians with 13 points. Loos finished with five points.

Scott City erased an eight-point deficit in the final 1:30 minutes of regulation and then outscored the Cardinals in overtime to win on the road.

The Rams (6-3) extended their winning streak to five games. Alisha Obermann led Scott City with 12 points and Jessica Warren added 10.

Cortney Glastetter led Woodland with 13 points and Kandice and Amanda Abner had 10 apiece.
