Jackson girls breeze past NMCC at home

Jackson's girls basketball team rebounded from a loss to No. 1 St. Joseph's Academy on Friday with an 81-15 rout of visiting New Madrid County Central on Monday night.

Jackson (10-2) rushed out to a 47-8 halftime lead and did not allow more than six points in a quarter.

Jennifer Ferrell led Jackson with 18 points, all on 3-pointers. Ashley Bartels added 14 for Jackson and Bobbie Jones had 12.

Central and Kelly won round robin games at the Central JV boys tournament. Central beat Perryville 53-21. Garrett Ozbun led Central with 11 and Anthony Hempstead had 10. Kelly beat Scott City 43-42 in overtime.

Central's freshmen boys won 68-48 at New Madrid County. Central (6-4) was led by Robert Weir's 21 points. Matt Hester added 19.

Central's 8th grade boys improved to 8-1 as Ty Williams scored 13 points during a 48-20 win over visiting Shawnee. Central's "B" squad won 28-12 as Anthony Watts had eight points.
