The Jackson wrestling team had a conference-meet record 10 individual champions as the Indians claimed the SEMO Conference championship Saturday in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

Jackson's Jarrett Reisenbichler stayed undefeated (27-0) with his technical fall victory over Sikeston's Garrett Middleton at 113 pounds.

Jackson's other champions were Gus Guilliams (126), Jake Byrd (120), Tyler Rush (138), Dylan Rush (145), Clayton Collier (152), Carson McCord (170), Josh Stone (182), Clay Darnell (220) and Preston Hobeck (HWT).

Jackson finished with 394 points to easily outdistance runner-up Farmington, which finished at 311. Host Ste. Genevieve finished at 244 and was followed by Sikeston (163.5), Dexter (150.5), Poplar Bluff (147), Windsor (108), Notre Dame (84), New Madrid County Central (78.5), Cape Girardeau Central (60.5) and North County (60.0).

The Indians had 11 wrestlers in the championship final, and they won 13 of their 14 final placement matches with two thirds and a fifth in addition to their 10 first-place wins.

Jackson shared the previous record of eight conference champions with Farmington.

"This group of wrestlers has worked real, real hard," Jackson coach Steve Wachter said. "I'm just glad it's paying off. To win the conference tournament is really big, but we've still got four weeks left and a lot of work ahead of us."

It was the fourth large meet victory in four attempts this season for Jackson. The Indians also won titles at Ritenour, Central and St. Charles West.
