ST. LOUIS -- Jackson advanced five wrestlers and Cape Central advanced two out of Saturday night's sectional meet and into next weekend's Missouri State Wrestling Championships
Jackson took eight wrestlers into Saturday's Class 4A sectional meet and advanced Brett Stroud (112, 3rd), Adam Wachter (125, 2nd), Kyle Huck (130, 4th), Lance Schlick (135, 2nd) and Kyle Watson (140, 3rd).
Cape Central advanced Keith Benton (112, 4th) and Matt Strickland (189). Strickland wrestled for the sectional title Saturday but results from the championship match were not available at press time.
Jackson's Wachter and Schlick both lost rematches from last weekend's district championship matches. Both their Oakville opponents were ranked No. 1 in the state.
Wachter lost to Tim Vogel 8-1, while Schlick dropped a 10-5 decision to Jake Hopson. Wachter, a junior, will be making his first trip to state while Schlick, a senior, will make his fourth trek to Columbia.
