COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Jeremy Johnson belted two home runs and doubled in lifting Southeast Missouri State to an 8-5 win over Tennessee Tech to salvage a split in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader Saturday.

Southeast dropped the first game 9-8 in extra innings when Tennessee Tech's Matt Curtis -- after Southeast had taken an 8-7 lead -- hit a game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

In the second game, Johnson hit an RBI double to tie the game at 1-1 in the fourth and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeff Bourbon.

After Tennessee Tech went up 3-2 on a solo shot by Curtis, Johnson hit a solo shot of his own and tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning. Later in the sixth, Zach Barowiak doubled home two to give Southeast a 6-4 lead.

Later in the game, Johnson hit a two-run blast to put Southeast up 8-5.

In other OVC action Saturday, Middle Tennesse and Eastern Illinois split a doubleheader. Southeast is still tied with Middle Tennessee for second place in the OVC.

Southeast will try to win the series today at 1 p.m.
