Southeast Missouri State University head football coach Tim Billings has finally filled out his staff with the hiring of Mike Chavez as offensive line coach.
Chavez, who has 14 years of experience as a collegiate assistant coach, replaces Greg Olejack, who resigned to take a scouting job with the Kansas City Chiefs.
A 1981 graduate of Whittier College in California, Chavez comes to Southeast from Black Hills State University in South Dakota, where he had served as offensive line coach since 1996. At Black Hills, Chavez coached under head coach Russ Martin, who joined the Southeast staff this spring as offensive coordinator.
"I feel very fortunate to get a veteran coach like Chavez," said Billings. "He has been in college coaching for a number of years and is a great technician. The fact that he worked with coach Martin the last four years is certainly a plus for us. He knows our offense and what is expected."
