PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Scott City, ranked fourth in Class 2A, suffered its first loss of the season to Class 3A Park Hills Friday night.

The Rams (5-1) went into halftime leading 13-6, but Park Hills scored 22 second-half points to gain the 28-19 win.

Scott City's first score came in the first quarter on a 91-yard blast up the middle by tailback Marcus Klund, who broke a couple of tackles and won a footrace with Park Hills' defenders.

Later in the first, the Rams tacked on another score on a 1-yard dive by Jared Schenimann. Park Hills got on the board on a 15-yard pass play.

Klund got in the end zone on a 2-yard run after Park Hills scored and ran in a two-point conversion to put the Rams up 19-14 in the third quarter.

Park Hills (3-3) defense stiffened in the fourth quarter and their offense pushed across two more scores to send the Rams home with the unsavory taste of defeat.

Klund again led the Scott City ground attack with 109 yards on 14 carries, while quarterback Michael O'Brien completed 5-of-8 for 63 yards and one interception. Jacob Ressel was on the receiving end of two passes for 54 yards.

Park Hills finished with 258 yards rushing and 305 yards overall.

The Red Devils stopped the Eagles with a goal-line stand at the end of the first half and had another big stop in the second half when East Prarie threatened.
